Trump Pledges to Protect Kids, Families from Transgender Industry

January 31, 2023

In a video announcement released today, Donald Trump pledged to take a number of actions to protect children and families from the transgender industry if elected president in 2024. Included in Trump’s video were promises to discourage and defund sex-change procedures on minors; to investigate Big Pharma and medical institutions for pushing dangerous, harmful drugs and surgeries on kids for profit; to safeguard parental rights in education; and to defend the integrity of women’s sports.

In the 2020 election cycle, American Principles Project (APP) and its related super PAC spent over $15 million to educate voters on Democrats’ radical record on these issues.

In response, APP President Terry Schilling released the following statement applauding Trump’s message:

“President Trump’s announcement today marks an important moment in this early stage of the 2024 campaign.

“In pledging to aggressively take on the transgender industry, Trump has identified a glaring Democrat weakness likely to motivate voters nationwide, as proven by the resounding victories won by Governors Glenn Youngkin and Ron DeSantis in recent elections. Parents, in particular, are fired up to protect their children from this gender insanity being foisted upon them in schools and the wider culture, and only a vigorous response by the next president will be sufficient to turn the tide. Trump’s plan includes many fantastic proposals, and he deserves major kudos for putting this front and center of his campaign.

“This also clarifies an important shift in GOP politics. When APP first began running campaign ads on these issues in 2019, it was difficult to find any high-profile Republicans willing to champion them. Although voters were clearly opposed to Democrats’ cultural extremism, most in the GOP were still too afraid to speak openly about it. After four years, and APP election involvement across the country injecting these issues into campaigns, the tide has officially turned. Fighting the exploitative transgender industry is now Republican orthodoxy embraced by the party’s most popular leaders, and we expect this issue will only gain more visibility as the 2024 campaign shifts into full gear.”
