To Members of the Board of Directors of Twitter and Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO:
Pornography is an American epidemic- especially for kids online. Twitter is a $30 billion technology company that is fueling this crisis by making pornography accessible to millions of American children.
The facts are clear:
- The average American child is now exposed to pornography before 6th grade
- Nearly 35% of all Internet downloads are pornographic
- Despite the 4 million+ American children on Twitter, pornography and sexual indecency is protected “free speech” on Twitter
As stated in Twitter’s privacy policy, “Pornography and other forms of consensually produced adult content are allowed on Twitter”. This is clearly a double-standard.
After all, Twitter has no problems censuring political speech. For example, Twitter formally banned all political advertisements last October. More recently, Twitter censured a video from President Trump’s campaign.
Enough is enough. There are millions of American kids on Twitter, and pornography is NOT free speech.
It’s time for Twitter to close its “porn loophole”— or be held accountable by Congress.
