Trump HHS Moves to End Research Using Fetal Tissue from Abortions
Today, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a new policy withdrawing agency support from certain research involving the use of fetal tissue obtained from abortions. In a statement, HHS cited the Trump administration’s commitment to “promoting the dignity of human life from conception to natural death” as a major reason for the change.
In response, Terry Schilling, executive director of American Principles Project, released the following statement praising the decision:
Since taking office over two years ago, President Trump and his administration have been gradually and effectively instilling a greater respect for all life, especially the unborn, across the entire executive branch, and this decision is the latest example.
With this policy change, HHS has taken a significant step toward reorienting its research in a more ethical direction — ensuring that this work is not undertaken at the cost of unborn lives. Moreover, given that not a single cure has been developed from fetal tissue, this decision is a practical and pro-science one as well.
APP commends the Trump administration for making this important change, and we fully support the President in his continuing efforts to protect all human life, from conception to natural death.
