APP Blasts Biden’s DOJ for Opposing State Laws Protecting Female Athletes, Children’s Health

June 17, 2021

Today, the U.S. Department of Justice under President Biden reportedly issued statements of interest in two cases expressing opposition to West Virginia’s law prohibiting biological males from competing in women’s sports and Arkansas’ law prohibiting doctors from prescribing puberty blockers, hormones, surgeries and other treatments to children for the purposes of helping them live as the opposite sex.

In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project, released the following statement:

“This week, the Biden administration has put the rights of women and children squarely in its crosshairs. Yesterday, the Department of Education all but declared war on American women and girls by announcing Title IX protections can now be enjoyed by anyone who claims to be female. And today, the Department of Justice has declared it will oppose state-level efforts to both defend a fair playing field for girl athletes and to protect young children from being pushed into experimental procedures which permanently mar their bodies in an attempt to ‘change’ their sex. Children can’t consent to sex, so in what world can they consent to a ‘sex change’?

“These moves are both unlawful and wildly out of step with the views of the American people. Democrats can be assured they will be forced to answer for this extremism next time voters head to the polls.”
