APP Congratulates Sen. Kelly Loeffler on Advancing to Senate Runoff

November 3, 2020

WASHINGTON — Tonight, Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) advanced to the runoff election for her U.S. Senate seat after finishing in the top two in Georgia’s jungle primary. She will face Democrat Raphael Warnock in the runoff, which will take place on January 5, 2021.

Over the past month, American Principles Project PAC (APP PAC) has been running an ad campaign in Georgia praising Sen. Loeffler for her efforts to defend women’s sports and spotlighting Democrats’ support for policies that would allow biological males to compete against female athletes.

And in October, American Principles Project (APP) also launched a lobbying campaign to educate Americans about Sen. Loeffler’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. More than 28,000 have signed APP’s petition backing the legislation.

In response to the election result, APP executive director Terry Schilling released the following statement congratulating Sen. Loeffler:

Since joining the Senate last year, Kelly Loeffler has been a staunch ally and defender of American families. Most notably, she’s shown incredible courage in taking up the cause of female athletes across the country and fighting Democrats’ attempts to destroy women’s sports. Tonight, Georgians showed they obviously appreciate her fearless leadership.

However, the fight is not over. Whether or not the Senate is in pro-family hands next year could very well depend on whether Sen. Loeffler prevails in her election this January. That’s why we intend to continue highlighting why Sen. Loeffler is truly the MVP for women and girl athletes, and we are confident most Georgians — and indeed most Americans — will agree with us.

Polling this past July by APP and SPRY Strategies showed that over 76 percent of Georgia voters believe boys and men who say they identify as transgender should not be allowed to compete in female athletics.
