Trump Shuts Down Child Sex Changes in Ohio
Cleveland Clinic to pay millions in reparations to children
June 9, 2026, WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Cleveland Clinic has agreed to pay more than $2 million in damages and civil penalties and will soon build a detransition clinic to assist the vulnerable children it performed irreversible surgeries on, as part of a settlement with the Department of Justice and state authorities.
APP President Terry Schilling released the following statement:
“The Cleveland Clinic failed the families it was supposed to serve, placing profits above the health and safety of vulnerable children. The Trump administration is sending a clear message to hospital bureaucrats that have participated in the $4.5 billion Trans Industrial Complex: accountability is coming.
“The Justice Department settlement takes long overdue steps to help families and patients recover. America must move beyond seeing mutilation as care and ban permanently these irreversible procedures nationwide. APP will not rest until the doctors and activists who perpetrated the most wide-spread medical fraud in the country are held to account.”
Ohio banned child sex changes in 2024, but the new settlement will force the Cleveland Clinic to make restitution and provide pro-bono services to past patients. The settlement requires the Cleveland Clinic to ban the practice of child sex changes for at least 20 years. It comes just weeks after Texas Children’s Hospital agreed to pay more than $10 million for its own history of child transition procedures.
