American Principles Project Foundation Launches New Book “Liberty and Legacy”
Event honoring great American families featured remarks from Speaker Johnson, White House’s Vince Haley
Washington, D.C. – Yesterday evening, American Principles Project Foundation (APPF) announced the launch of a new book, “Liberty and Legacy: 250 Years of Great American Families” at a National Archives event in Washington D.C. The event featured remarks from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Vince Haley, Director of the White House’s Domestic Policy Council. The event is posted here.
“Liberty and Legacy” celebrates America’s 250th anniversary by telling the story of 25 families who helped build and define our country throughout its history. It spans revolutionaries like the Washingtons and Adams, Civil War-era families like the Lincolns and Tubmans, the pioneering Ingalls family, the Drexels and Carnegies who helped establish education in America, and the Disneys whose impact helped shape modern American culture.
APPF’s President Terry Schilling provided the following comments on the book launch and event:
“The family is the bedrock of society, the foundation of the nation. We would not be celebrating 250 years of American greatness without these great American families and every sacrifice they made to pave the way for the futures of their children and their children’s children. Although U.S. history is often told through the lens of individual achievement, the truth is that none of these important figures would have gotten far without the support from their families. It is strong families that built this country, and it is strong families that will continue to define its future.
“With so many attacks against the family, it is important to look back for inspiration to the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters who paved the way for a better, brighter future. Never underestimate the power of a strong family.”
