House Passes Protect Kids Act
Schools that groom students risk defunding

May 20, 2026, Washington, D.C. – The American Principles Project (APP) applauds the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Stopping Indoctrination & Protecting Kids Act, which would prevent federal funds from going to schools that secretly transition students.

American Principles Project President Terry Schilling issued the following statement:

“For too long, Democratic radicals have enabled schools to engage in the grooming of children by hiding behind closed doors to socially transition kids—changing names, pronouns, and access to bathrooms or locker rooms—without informing or obtaining consent from parents. This bipartisan bill ends that secrecy by requiring explicit parental approval in federally funded elementary and middle schools. This common-sense measure protects vulnerable children, upholds family authority, and reinforces the fundamental principle that parents have the right and responsibility to guide their children’s upbringing.”

The bill, authored by Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MN), marks a significant step forward in safeguarding America’s children from harmful ideologies and practices that threaten their well-being, parental rights, and healthy development. APP will continue its work to build support for the bill in the Senate and hold lawmakers accountable to the families they represent.
