Coalition Demands Federal Action on Pornography
Two-dozen pro-family groups back Sen. Banks’s SAFE for Kids Act

Washington, D.C. – June 15, 2026 – The American Principles Project (APP) sent a coalition letter to the U.S. Senate urging immediate action on the SAFE for Kids Act on Monday.

Introduced by Senator Jim Banks (R-Ind.), the legislation requires porn websites to implement age-verification technology, directly preventing minors from accessing sexually explicit content.

APP President Terry Schilling issued the following statement:

“The predatory pornography industry has enjoyed unfettered access to our children for far too long, profiting off the destruction of American families while the political establishment looked the other way. Senator Banks’s SAFE for Kids Act finally puts the burden of age verification squarely where it belongs: on the adult websites themselves, not on overwhelmed parents. It is time for Congress to stand up to the pornographers, empower federal enforcement, and secure a safe digital environment for the next generation.”

More than two dozen prominent conservative leaders and organizations signed the letter to combat the multi-billion dollar pornography industry and its lobbyist allies. The coalition emphasizes the urgent need for a unified federal solution rather than relying solely on a patchwork of state laws. Despite advances at the state level, 80 percent of children ages 12 to 17 have been exposed to sexually explicit material. The coalition’s letter states:

“As Congress considers a myriad of ways to protect kids online, we implore senators to consider what is perhaps the most grave threat to kids online: being exposed at an early age to the most violent, hardcore pornography imaginable.”

Signatories demanding swift passage of the SAFE for Kids Act include leadership and fellows from the following organizations and institutions:

American Principles Project; Heritage Action; Family Research Council; VA Family Foundation; Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee; Family Policy Alliance; Digital Childhood Institute; ThemBeforeUs; CatholicVote; American Compass; Child First Policy Center; Institute for Family Studies; and Eagle Forum, among other national and state pro-family groups.
