APP Endorses Mike Johnson for House Speaker
Yesterday, the House Republican conference voted for Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) as its nominee for Speaker of the House.
American Principles Project (APP) is urging members to support Johnson in the full House vote, which is tentatively expected today.
APP President Terry Schilling released the following statement endorsing Johnson’s candidacy:
“Congressman Mike Johnson has been a stalwart conservative and pro-family champion during his time in the House. In particular, he has been outspoken on the harms of gender ideology to children, vocally opposing the use of transgender drugs and surgeries on minors. He also notably sponsored the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act, an APP-endorsed bill which would end all federal funding for sexually oriented programs aimed at kids under 10 years old.
“We are grateful for Rep. Johnson’s leadership on these critical issues and others, which is why we are confident he will make an excellent Speaker. APP urges all Republicans to support him in the upcoming floor vote so that the House can reopen and continue its important work on behalf of American families.”
