Senate Democrats Block Bill to Protect Women and Girls’ Sports from Vote
WASHINGTON — Today, Senate Democrats blocked Senator Tuberville’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act from coming to the Senate Floor for a vote. This comes after the House of Representatives passed similar legislation – which had the support of only two Democrat members. President Trump has already signed an Executive Order protecting women’s sports, and this legislation would enact his policy permanently into law.
Recent polling shows that almost 80% of American voters support protecting women’s sports and nearly 70% of Democrat voters oppose transgender-identifying athletes competing in women’s sports.
“It is disappointing to watch Democrats deny biological reality and ignore the will of the American people just to appease their out-of-touch, radical base,” said Terry Schilling, President of American Principles Project. “Women and girls deserve to feel safe in bathrooms, locker rooms, and on the field. Democrats need to get their heads out of the sand and listen to the American people who clearly want women’s sports to be protected.”
