Mississippi Becomes Eighth State to Restrict Sex Changes for Minors

March 1, 2023

Yesterday, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signed HB 1125 into law, prohibiting “gender transition” medical procedures on minors. Mississippi is now the eighth state to restrict these procedures in some capacity.

In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released the following statement cheering the new law:

“Momentum continues to build towards protecting vulnerable children from the predatory transgender industry. It is encouraging to see Mississippi join the list of states restricting the prescription of dangerous sex-change drugs and surgical procedures to minors. Kids who are too young to drink alcohol or get tattoos should not be pushed into such life-altering interventions, and state lawmakers are right to protect them.

“We applaud Gov. Reeves and Mississippi legislators for taking action, and we look forward to even more states following their lead in the coming weeks.”
