APP Calls on House to Pass President Trump’s Rescission Package
Washington, D.C. – Today the American Principles Project called on the House of Representatives to pass President Trump’s rescission package – H.R. 3, the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act. The rescission package would cut $15.4 billion in unusable funds previously allocated for spending and return them to the treasury.
Terry Schilling, executive director at American Principles Project, released the following statement:
“During his first 500 days, President Trump has consistently honored the promises he made on the campaign to the American people. Congress now has the ability to do the same.
“For decades, Republicans have campaigned on the idea of cutting wasteful government spending. This rescission package is the perfect opportunity for Congress to shave $15.4 billion off the deficit and begin to put our financial house in order in a way that doesn’t place an unfair future burden on the backs of our children and grandchildren.
“A vote in favor of the rescission package is a vote in favor of American families. Therefore, we encourage Members of Congress to vote yes on H.R. 3.”
