Trump Charts Clear Path Forward for Republican Party

June 19, 2019

WASHINGTON In a speech announcing the beginning of his campaign for re-election last night in Orlando, Fla., President Donald Trump outlined a clear vision for the Republican Party’s platform in 2020:

So don’t ever forget, this election is about you. It is about your family, your future, and the fate of your country. We begin our campaign with the best record, the best results, the best agenda, and the only positive vision for our country’s future. Together, we will continue unleashing the power of American enterprise, so every American can know the dignity of work and the pride of a paycheck. We will elect a Republican Congress to create a safe, modern, and lawful system of immigration.

[…]

We believe that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the true American way. We believe that children should be taught to love our country, honor our history, and always respect our great American flag. And we will live by the words of our national motto: ‘In God We Trust.’

Powered by these values, we won a victory two and a half years ago….

Terry Schilling, executive director at American Principles Project, released the following statement:

Last night President Trump charted a clear path forward for the Republican Party, and in doing so he drew a stark contrast with the modern Democratic Party. We are the party of working families, not the party of corporate interests. We are the party of prosperity and freedom, not the party of bread lines and bureaucracy. We are the party of patriotism and values, not the party of division and degeneracy.

As Democrats dismiss their better angels and embrace blind hatred for their fellow Americans, President Trump has an opportunity to win big in 2020 — and he will if his campaign continues to emphasize the uniquely American beliefs and values he described in his impressive speech last night.
