Major Gifts Officer

Status: Full-Time
Location: Arlington, VA
Salary Range: $95k–$120k

The Major Gifts Officer plays a critical role in cultivating and sustaining relationships with high-capacity donors to significantly enhance the organization’s fundraising efforts. This position focuses on identifying and stewarding major gifts, ensuring that each donor feels valued and informed about the impact of their contributions.

Success in this role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a thorough understanding of fundraising principles, and a passion for saving America and the American family. The Major Gifts Officer must demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy while fostering relationships that lead to sustainable financial support and meaningful engagement with donors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with current and potential investors to grow investments over time.
  • Keep investors apprised of APP progress, achievements, events, and opportunities.
  • Develop innovative strategies to attract high-net-worth donors for major gifts of $25,000 and above.
  • Identify potential donors for major gifts and planned giving opportunities by analyzing their interests and giving history.
  • Prepare meeting materials to facilitate donor stewardship for both the donor and APP leadership.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify individuals who can be cultivated for major gifts.
  • Contact donors via phone calls, texts, emails, and other methods to set up stewardship opportunities.
  • Track donor activity, manage a portfolio of key prospects, and prepare comprehensive reports in our donor CRM to assess progress and inform strategy.

Experience/Education/Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills
  • 1–3 years prior Major Gifts experience
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Professionalism and diplomacy
  • The ability to work as a member of a team and follow instructions and procedures
  • Effective time management skills, detail-oriented, and well-organized
