Gov. DeSantis Signs Law Banning Sex Changes for Minors in Florida
Today, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 254, prohibiting the prescription of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries to minors for the purpose of attempting to change their sex. This formalizes in law restrictions which had been adopted earlier this year by the Florida Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine.
Florida is one of 18 states which have acted to prohibit these procedures for minors in some capacity.
In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP), released the following statement cheering the law’s passage:
“Over the last few years, Florida has been leading the way in protecting children from the destructive transgender industry. Governor DeSantis and state lawmakers were among the earliest to act to remove gender ideology from schools, and Florida’s Department of Health has been a rare voice of sanity amid the activist-captured medical establishment. It’s no wonder families have been flocking to the Sunshine State in droves.
“Today, Gov. DeSantis has once again shown why he is one of the staunchest allies of the pro-family movement. We thank him and state legislators for their commitment to safeguarding Florida kids, and we urge other states to follow Florida’s outstanding, pro-family example.”
