Government Affairs Manager

The Government Affairs Manager supports the Director of Government Affairs in advancing the organization’s policy priorities, with a particular emphasis on family policy. This role requires strong project management, policy awareness, relationship development, and communication skills. The Manager will monitor legislative developments, engage with coalition partners, and represent the organization in policy-related meetings while maintaining a professional public presence aligned with the organization’s mission.

The position also provides limited administrative coordination support related to Government Affairs operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to the Director of Government Affairs, including leading and executing projects related to family policy initiatives
  • Advance the organization’s policy goals through engagement with policymakers in Congress, the executive branch, and state governments
  • Attend Capitol Hill meetings (in person or virtual) to monitor policy developments and represent organizational interests
  • Track and brief internal leadership on relevant developments in the House and Senate
  • Author and publish written content addressing legislation, executive actions, and relevant political developments
  • Build and maintain relationships with allied policy organizations, advocacy groups, and political associations
  • Assist with the production of organizational events, including policy briefings, coalition meetings, and fundraisers

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional judgment and discretion when engaging with external stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of the legislative process and public policy environment
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally in meetings and public settings

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Government, Communications, or related field
  • 1-2 years experience working in government affairs, advocacy, campaigns, or public policy environments
  • Familiarity with Capitol Hill operations and legislative tracking
  • Alignment with the organization’s mission and policy priorities
