ATTENTION MEMBERS OF CONGRESS:
Social media platforms are using their unchecked power to silence and cancel any speech they don’t agree with.
There are no consequences. You, Congress, gave the online platforms extreme protection when you passed Section 230 almost 25 years ago. They are virtually the only industry that can’t be sued by Americans for their actions!
Section 230 was sold to the American people as a necessary legal protection to remove pornography and obscenity from the Internet while also giving free speech the opportunity to flourish. But the opposite has occurred: Big Tech platforms are removing free speech from the Internet, while pornography and obscenity are flourishing like never before.
Perhaps the only good news is that Twitter and others have stopped trying to hide their bias. They even admitted censoring the President not for what he said, but for some far-fetched theory of how it could be interpreted.
We demand that you:
LET AMERICANS SUE TO DEFEND THEIR RIGHTS
Establish a private right of action and broad compensatory damages for users who have had their expression treated adversely by a market-dominant Big Tech platform.
REMOVE ABSURD PROTECTIONS ONLY TECH COMPANIES GET
Eliminate protection for market-dominant Big Tech platforms that fail to make content moderation consistent with First Amendment values.
TELL TWITTER TO STOP PROTECTING DICTATORS AND TERRORISTS
Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro has a Twitter account. So does Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. They use their accounts to spew propaganda, and promote violence. Twitter must stop its double-standards and support for thugs and tyrants.
I demand you act now!
