House Defunds Sterilizing Sex-Change Procedures for Minors in Defense Bill

December 11, 2024

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives approved its annual defense spending bill, including a provision prohibiting taxpayer funding for sterilizing sex-change procedures on minors. The legislation passed by a 281-140 vote.

In response, Terry Schilling, president of American Principles Project (APP) released the following statement cheering the bill’s passage:

“Today’s House vote marks a precedent-setting victory over the predatory transgender industry.

“For too long, American tax dollars have been subsidizing the horrific medical malpractice of ‘transitioning’ children to live as the opposite sex, despite the sterilization and mutilation that these practices often entail. Even as England today banned the use of ‘puberty blockers’ on kids, our country’s corrupted healthcare establishment continues to push this discredited and damaging treatment, for both ideological and financial reasons. Enough is enough.

“We are grateful for the principled leadership of Speaker Johnson in ensuring this important protection was included in the bill. And we urge Republican leaders in both chambers to continue to prioritize this issue, both for the remainder of this Congress and especially in the next one. Voters this November gave the GOP a mandate to act — now they must follow through.”
