Conservative Groups Urge Congress to Protect Women’s Private Spaces
Yesterday, American Principles Project (APP) sent a letter to congressional Republicans urging support for Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-S.C.) Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act, which would prohibit biological males from using female-only private facilities on federal property.
The letter, signed by 30 conservative leaders, argues that preserving female-exclusive spaces is both important for women’s privacy and safety as well as politically popular:
“As Speaker Johnson said last week, “Women deserve women’s only spaces.” Biology matters, and it is important for women to have female-exclusive facilities both to protect their privacy and also to deter potential predators. Unfortunately, we have seen too often that when authorities allow any individual who ‘identifies’ as a female to access women’s spaces, bad actors will take advantage of the opportunity. […]
“It’s also important to note that the American people by and large support this legislation. A recent Napolitan News Service/RMG Research poll showed that 75 percent of registered voters oppose allowing “biological males who identify as women” to use women’s locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms, with just 13 percent supporting. A YouGov poll of battleground states similarly found large majorities of voters supporting the idea that “transgender people should be required to use the public restroom of the gender they were born into.”

Last week, APP also circulated a memo to House and Senate Republican offices detailing the political case for keeping biological men out of women’s bathrooms and other private spaces, including in the U.S. Capitol. You can read more on that story here.
