Good morning,
In my opinion, Dr. George’s forum that he is hosting in South Carolina on September 5th should have New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson in it. He is a thoughful voice on many issues, including the failures of both our “wars” on terrorism and drugs, including the possible legaliization of marijuana.
Thank you!
Edward Dougherty
Yesterday’s forum was an outstanding example of what political discourse should look like and was a refreshing departure from the soundbites and talking points typically offered during what passes for modern-day political debating. I think it would be fantastic if this same kind of forum were used when it comes time to choose between the presidential contenders. Two suggestions: first, the full video of the event should be posted on your site; it is difficult to find elsewhere (http://www.2012presidentialelectionnews.com/2011/09/video-full-palmetto-freedom-forum-from-columbia-sc/), and the live ad hoc coverage provided by CNN cut out significant portions of each candidate’s comments. Second, I wish that all of the announced candidates had been invited to attend; polling may or may not be an accurate indicator of who the eventual nominee will be, but the views, opinions and ideas of each of the candidates are a relevant part of the selection process.
